ABOUT ME

I trained between 2003 and 2011 and have an MA in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling from NSPC (The New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling), accredited by Sheffield University.

I've benefited from around eight years of personal therapy myself and worked for a charity providing counselling services in south east London for 15 years.

I'm a trustee of a mental health charity and I work part-time as a consultant and part-time as a therapist.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE THERAPY?

It can be something you do - because of anything that troubles you. Sometimes it's just an overwhelming feeling that you're unhappy and dissatisfied. It can be about your relationships  - with partners, parents, children, colleagues - relationship break-ups, bereavement, loss, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, sexual problems, mid-life crisis, PTSD, ageing... the list is endless. Therapy sessions are a time for us to hold the focus on your life and contemplate it together.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY?

There's very little difference and my view is that generally the terms 'counselling' and 'therapy' can be used interchangeably. When working for more than a decade with young adults (aged 15 to 25) I called it 'counselling', as I thought it seemed less intimidating. For the serious business of reviewing and contemplating your own life - with the aim of making better decisions and living more purposefully - I think that's 'therapy'.

HOW CAN I BE SURE WHAT I SAY IS CONFIDENTIAL?

Confidentiality is fundamental to the process of therapy. In the first session I will outline our contract which follows BACP ethical framework and ensures clients' confidentiality and privacy.

Read the full BACP guidance.

HOW LONG DOES EACH SESSION LAST?

Each session is 50 minutes long. It happens at the same time each week, unless we have made arrangements and scheduled another time.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

There is a scale from £48.00 to £72 (these prices are inclusive of VAT). The lower end of the scale is for people attending long-term therapy. The higher end of the scale is for a short-term block booking of 12-weeks. Our first consultation meeting has no charge - as it's the opportunity for us both to decide whether I'm the right therapist for you.

HOW DOES THERAPY WORK DURING LOCKDOWN?

Therapy is usually held face-to-face and in person, but through the Covid-19 pandemic, all sessions are being held virtually over Zoom or Skype. This will likely remain the case for 2021 and will remain an option for clients who choose it.

GETTING IN TOUCH

I currently have time slots available on Monday and Thursday evenings. But if neither of these days and times suit you - still get in touch as it's likely we can find a time that suits.

You can either complete this form - or send me a text message and I'll get back to you quickly.

I'm based in central London but, of course, can see clients anywhere virtually - if the time difference works.

SARAH BOUNDY PSYCHOTHERAPY

Short or long-term therapy services, currently online only.

No one should feel they need to go through difficult times alone. There will be periods in most people's lives when speaking in confidence to a professional - who is not a friend, family member or colleague - can be helpful.

My approach is person-centred and existential - which just means non-judgemental and focusing on your lived experience, with the goal of assisting you to make choices with greater personal understanding.
